Client Overview
The client is a globally recognised organisation dedicated to advancing the quality of business education worldwide, connecting educators, students, and businesses across more than 100 countries. Their Asia Pacific team plays a central role in delivering the organisation’s mission across the region and was looking to strengthen the collaboration and cohesion that underpins that work.
The Challenge
Although the team had taken part in team-building workshops before, previous experiences had not gone deep enough — they wanted something more meaningful, more reflective, and more practical. The Centre Manager commissioned a bespoke session focused on three things: helping the team understand their unique working styles, strengthening communication and collaboration, and building a shared framework for how they work together day to day.
Our Approach
We designed a highly customised full-day workshop combining cultural mapping, behavioural strengths development, and team culture building — each activity building on the last to move the team from self-awareness to shared commitment.
Culture Map Activity
Drawing on Erin Meyer’s Culture Map framework, the team explored their preferences across eight cultural dimensions — Communication, Feedback, Persuasion, Leadership, Decision-making, Trust, Disagreements, and Scheduling — comparing individual and collective profiles to understand how cultural differences were shaping their day-to-day interactions.
Behavioural Strengths Integration (DISC)
Participants identified their individual behavioural strengths using the DISC framework, with a focus on how to leverage those strengths to enhance productivity, navigate potential conflicts, and work more effectively as a team.
Team Charter Development
The team collaboratively designed a Team Charter — a living document outlining shared goals, roles, values, and expectations — using open discussion to align on how the group would work together going forward and translating the day’s insights into practical, agreed commitments.
Debrief & Action Planning
A structured closing reflection helped the team consolidate key learnings from each activity, name their shared commitments, and identify concrete next steps — ensuring the energy and clarity from the day carried forward into daily operations.
Result & Impact
Cultural Self-Awareness & Inclusion
Team members gained a clearer understanding of how their individual cultural preferences impact the overall team dynamic — creating a foundation for a more inclusive, aware, and intentionally aligned working environment.
Stronger Interpersonal Dynamics
The DISC activity gave the team a shared language for understanding each other’s behavioural strengths and working styles, promoting stronger relationships and more practical day-to-day collaboration.
A Living Team Charter
The Team Charter became an immediately useful guide — clarifying responsibilities, expectations, and shared purpose. The team also decided to adopt it as their key onboarding tool for all new team members joining the Asia Pacific team.
Noticeable Improvement in Communication & Alignment
Post-workshop, the team reported a measurable shift in how aligned and connected they felt — with improved communication between team members evident in their daily interactions and operations from day one.
Participant Feedback
Thank you for such an engaging and informative session. The team found the workshop to be truly interesting and informative. Your enthusiasm and teamwork made the experience even more enjoyable! I'm looking forward to the possibility of working together again in the future!
