Workshop Series with Sing Lit Station & MWS

At FridayMakers, we believe in the power of learning, collaboration, and growth—and our recent workshop series in partnership with Sing Lit Station and The Migrant Writers Singapore (MWS) was the perfect opportunity to bring these values to life. Over the last couple of months, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with MWS volunteers to provide training on key leadership, communication, and facilitation skills that are important for personal growth and creating meaningful change in their communities.

Leadership & Teamwork Skills

Kicking off the series, our first workshop focused on Leadership and Teamwork Skills. The volunteers engaged in hands-on activities that helped them explore self-awareness, understand group dynamics, and build stronger teams. This session set a solid foundation for the rest of the series by helping volunteers understand the importance of self-awareness in leadership and communication's critical role in creating a cohesive team.

Public Speaking & Communication Skills

Next, we focused on Public Speaking and Presentation Skills. This workshop was about learning to speak clearly, confidently, and purposefully, whether addressing a small group or presenting in front of a larger audience. Public Speaking is a skill that can help boost confidence, build trust, and convey a message meaningfully. This session gave volunteers the tools to do just that.

Facilitation Skills

Our last workshop of the series focused on Facilitation Skills, which are essential for anyone looking to lead workshops or group discussions effectively. Some of the topics covered included active listening, managing group dynamics, and building consensus. We also talked about creating a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable contributing their ideas.

What Participants Had to Say

The feedback from participants speaks volumes about the impact these workshops had. Here’s what they had to say:

  • Indah W. Yosevina: “The workshop exceeded my expectations. I’ve learned practical tools to help me communicate better and become a stronger leader.”

  • Julie Ann Tabigne: “I’m more confident in how to build trust within my team and focus on becoming a better leader.”

  • Charo Sidon: “I’ve learned that it’s not just about speaking; it’s about connecting with your audience. I’ll be using these tips to improve my communication.”

  • Nelie Bautista: “The session was lively and engaging. I left feeling much more confident about speaking in public.”

Big Thanks to Our Partners

A huge thank you to Sing Lit Station and The Migrant Writers Singapore for allowing us to be part of this initiative and for your incredible support. We’re excited to see the MWS volunteers' ongoing growth as they expand their reach and share their voices with others.

Embrace curiosity and kindness.
